Welcome to Fleet Tours and Embarks!

We provide information concerning the scheduling and execution of Fleet visits, tours and embarks and how the Fleet supports community events, both in person and virtually, to inform, educate and influence audiences of Fleet activities and programs.   

A key objective of Navy Public Affairs is to develop, improve and maintain full understanding and support by the American people and our allies of the mission of USFFC and the U.S. Navy to defend the United States; to demonstrate U.S. partnership with our allies in collective security; and to develop an awareness that U.S. military personnel are dedicated and highly-trained professionals who work in support of our national goals and interests.

Available Fleet Tours and Embarks!

Tours, visits and engagements featuring various ships, platforms, squadrons, units and commands with the purpose of welcoming new Department of the Navy civilian employees about the Navy in general and educate them in some of the Fleet’s missions and capabilities.  Focus on how the Navy operates, and how Sailors work and live.  We currently have various Navy Organizations and Commands that have acculturation programs that include the NCAP program, ONI, NWDC, OGC and NAVSEA.  

This is a sample schedule of events:

NAVY CIVILIAN EMPLOYEE FLEET ACCULTURATION VISIT (FAV).  About 15 newly hired civilian employees from various Naval organizations in the Hampton Roads area will participate in the program.  The focus of the visit is to introduce the new employees to the Fleet and show them how Sailors live and work by highlighting a couple of platforms.

9-10 a.m.                               Naval Station Norfolk Base Tour (Ms. Gaines)

10:15-11:30 a.m.                  Visit Aircraft Carrier

11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m.          No-host lunch on board Aircraft Carrier

1-2:15 p.m.                            Visit Guided-Missile Destroyer

Tours, visits and engagements featuring various ships, platforms, squadrons, units and commands with the purpose of familiarizing Department of the Navy civilian employees about the Navy in general and educate them in some of the Fleet’s missions and capabilities.  Focus on how the Navy operates and how it relates to the participating organization, and how Sailors work and live. We do many of these throughout the year with NAVSEA, NWDC, ONI, NAVSUP, etc.

This is a sample schedule of events:

ONI FLEET ORIENTATION VISIT (FOV).  About 15 Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) employees and escorts will visit Norfolk for briefings and tours.  The ONI annual operational familiarization program is designed to introduce ONI analysts and employees to the United States Navy and educate them in some of the Fleet’s missions and capabilities with a focus on how the Navy operates and how it relates to the participating organization, and how Sailors work and live.

10-11:15 a.m.           Visit Amphibious Assault Ship

Tours, visits and engagements featuring various ships, platforms, squadrons, units and commands with the purpose of introducing civilian guests about the Navy in general and educate them in some of the Fleet’s missions and capabilities.  Focus on how Sailors work and live, and the importance of a strong Navy by featuring Fleet missions and capabilities.  These can include any groups from CNRC educator groups, public think tanks, JCOC, community groups, invited guests, youth groups, and other special tours.  We do a lot of the Orientation Groups and we are doing more Acculturation Groups, but we can probably do better in this area by trying to get more groups we want to see and learn about the Navy.

This is a sample schedule of events:

NTAG EMPIRE STATE FLEET INTRODUCTION VISIT (FIV).  Fifteen educators and escorts will be visiting the area as part of a Fleet Introduction Visit.  The focus of the visit is to inform the guests about the Navy in general, educate them on the importance of a strong Navy by featuring Fleet’s missions and capabilities, and show how Sailors work and live.
