Ensign McGann, a native of Burlington, Massachusetts, graduated in 2003 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance and was commissioned through the Limited Duty Officer and Chief Warrant Officer Program in November of 2023.

Ensign McGann, a native of Burlington, Massachusetts, graduated in 2003 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance and was commissioned through the Limited Duty Officer and Chief Warrant Officer Program in November of 2023. 

He entered the Navy in 2010 and attended Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of Musician “A” School in Virginia Beach, Virginia, he reported to Navy Band Northwest, Silverdale, Washington, Navy Band Southwest, San Diego, California, and Navy Band Northeast, Newport, Rhode Island where he served as trumpet instrumentalist, Unit Leader, and Leading Petty Officer. 

His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), as well as various unit and campaign awards. 

ENS McGann is married to Holly Carlton, of Holyoke, Massachusetts and they have two children.
